The S.S. American is sailing for Europe, full of colorful passengers with delightful stories. Cole Porter’s score is filled with hit tunes of the 30s including You’re The Top, It’s Delovely, Friendship, I Get A Kick Out Of You and many more. Join Reno Sweeney, Moonface Martin and the gang for a hilarious musical comedy adventure on the high seas!

Auditions- Sunday June 19th and Monday June 20th at 7pm
ALL AUDITIONERS need to bring sheet music for 16 to 24 bars of a song that shows your vocal abilities. Vocal Auditions are private. There will be Dance Auditions, for both Tap and General Movement. Tap and jazz dancing skill are required especially for Reno, Angels and featured Ensemble. All principal characters and ensemble must move well. You may be asked to read from the script provided, time allowing. No performers are paid.

Billy Crocker (Tenor B♭4 to F4, comic role) – Elijah Whitney’s kind but inefficient general manager who is in love with Hope, boarded the ship without a ticket in pursuit of Hope, and so must adopt a number of disguises.
Hope Harcourt (Soprano B♭3 to F5) – A wealthy and beautiful heiress, debutante determined to marry Sir Evelyn Oakleigh to satisfy Mama Harcourt, even though she is in love with Billy.
Reno Sweeney (Alto F3 to B4) – an evangelist turned nightclub singer. Old friend of Billy’s. Ethel Merman/Patti LuPone type.
Sir Evelyn Oakleigh (Baritone D♭3 to F4)- a rich English Gentleman, comedy role.
Moon-Face Martin (Baritone / Tenor A3 to E4) – Public Enemy #13, who wants to be 1st on the list. Comedian.
Bonnie (Mezzo D♭4 to G♭5) – Moonface Martin’s attractive but not-so-bright girlfriend.
Elijah J. Whitney – Wall Street executive and Billy Crocker’s boss, an extremely near-sighted business tycoon and drunk.
Mrs. Wadsworth T. Harcourt – Hope’s haughty, overbearing mother who is mainly concerned with social status and money.
Bishop Henry Dobson – a minister
Ching and Ling – two of Bishop Dobson’s Chinese converts and reformed gamblers
Purser – The Captain’s lackey.
Captain – Proud leader, used for comic effect.
Reno’s “Angels” – Entertainers and backup for Reno. Chastity, Charity, Virtue, Faith, Purity, Patience
Passengers/Sailors/Reporters/Photographers (ensemble) All other roles. Lots of songs and comic situations.
